Notice 2 - Barry 365 held a 'Chace the Ace' draw and the Lady Captain had her envelope pulled out... To put the perfect end to a splendid day Angela Turnpenny only went and WON! You heard it right, she WON the dosh...Woo Hoo!!! This will ease the pain in our pockets as we poor pensioners head off for a couple of weeks in Mexico....
Notice 3 - The Tupps will be departing tomorrow, in our absence the Captain Jamie Evans will be covering the Managers post and Iona Elliott will be running the Ladies section.
See you all next month... remember to Swing Easy baby!

January 5, 2018
Despite the weather gods best efforts the course has past muster and is fit to play tomorrow for the Captain's Drive In.
Please arrive at the Clubhouse for 08:30hrs for a random team selection, the Captain's drive off and a fun game of swish. Sandra will have the tea and toast ready to go to ease you into the day.
See you in t'morning
January 4, 2018
It should come as no surprise that due to the inclement weather the course is CLOSED... The Captain inspected the course this morning and there was already standing water on the fairways and greens, with the continuing precipitation it seems unlikely to improve in the near future.
He will re inspect tomorrow at 09:00hrs to see if there has been any improvement.
Stay warm, stay dry
January 3, 2018
Good morning all,
Notice 1 - The course recovered well from the weekend downpour and George is currently out mowing the fairways however, there is more rain forecast for the next few days so be advised we may require to close again if conditions deteriorate... Not our fault its that time of year!

December 31, 2017
Good day all me again!
Notice 1 - Thank you to all that took time out to vote on Honorary membership however, several members have expressed concern over the email vote and its validity regarding the process laid down in the Club Constitution. This was obviously not a deliberate action by the committee and accordingly we have decided to rescind the offer of an email vote and table the nominees at the AGM in June where members can debate the pros and cons of the individuals concerned.
Notice 2 - You will hopefully be aware that the course is currently closed due to the recent deluge. Hopefully the weather will improve and give it a chance to dry out in time for the Captain's Drive In on Saturday! Full details to follow...
Have a good drinkies tonight peeps
Health & Happiness for 2018
December 31, 2017
Please see below message from our Captain:
Course Closed due to Flooding
The Vice-Captain has carried out an inspection of the course this morning.
The fairways are heavily waterlogged and a number of greens have large pools of water...with the 3rd green in particular half under water!
I have therefore made the decision based on current and predicted rainfall to close the course until 0800 on Tuesday 2 Jan 18 when the course will be inspected again. This decision is made to protect our course and in particular the new greens.
The New Years Day Cross Country Scramble scheduled for Monday 1 Jan 18 is cancelled.
I know that this news will be disappointing however, the priority is to protect our course from damage.
I wish you all a Happy New Year for 2018 and may your golf improve and handicap reduce!
Yours in Golf
December 30, 2017
Greetings one and all,
In the spirit of HM Queen Elizabeth II the Committee have decided that it would be good to bestow upon the true and good people of JSGC(E) a mention in Despatches...
The Committee has received nominations for Honorary Membership of the Club which we have duly debated upon and agreed unanimously to put forward to the membership for acceptance. It is recognised that we should nominate at an AGM, or call an EGM to vote for such matters, but in the current technical age it was thought that an email vote would be acceptable and agreeable to all...
Mr Ray & Mrs Jenny Taylor - Stalwart supporters of the Club who have received Island wide plaudits for their running and organisation of JSGC(E) Junior golf for over 20 years. They are regular supporters of Club competitions in many capacities including Half Way House duties for Open competitions.
Mr John & Mrs Chris Moran - John has been Captain twice, Vice Captain 4 times and has acted as the interclub co-coordinator for more years than he can remember (he is getting on). Chris acted as Club Secretary for years and they both ran the bar for many years. Always at the forefront volunteering in support of Club and Open events they demonstrated the true spirit of the Club supporting each and every event.
There is currently a Club membership of 128. Members are requested to vote Yes, No or Abstain as soon as possible. It is hoped that we can generate enough votes to carry the proposal and notify the individuals concerned for the 1st of January, welcoming in 2018 with a good and generous offer...
Wishing you all a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year
December 21, 2017
Festive greetings all,
Notice 1 - The new greens are now in play but still bedding in, so if you spot any faults (surface lifting etc) please let myself or the Captain know so that the contractor can rectify as soon as possible. You will also have noted the African red sand around the edges, this contains grass seed and it is hoped that given the right conditions will start to grow soon... Can I request that members try not to walk this onto the greens...
Notice 2 - Clive Clayton has created a private league on the European Golf Tour and has requested I publish the following:
The European Tour Fantasy league will start with the BMW SA open on 11 Jan 18 please register on the Fantasy page of the European Tour page https://fantasyrace.europeantour.com please sign up ASAP.
The private league is JSGC(E) please join PIN is jDS2rMY1I4.
Its all good fun no money involved just those important bragging rights. It takes the minimum of time each week as they send a reminder email to show you who is playing out of your team but you can change anyone at any time. Competition will be fierce.
Notice 3 - Lists are up in the Club house for the fun events on Boxing Day and New Year's Day, there's still time to get your name down!
Merry Chrimbo one and all

Festive greetings fellow members,
Notice 1 - The Junior Golf Invitational Open will be held at Episkopi this Saturday (16 Dec 17). Currently there are 37 kids taking part, which is a great turnout and lots of helping hands are required! If you can spare a few hours to help out as Marshals or volunteer in any other capacity please contact Ray and Jenny Taylor direct on firstname.lastname@example.org. First tee is at 09:00hrs but timings are dependent on which flight you are allocated... I'm sure there will be a beer in it for you afterwards......
Notice 2 - There will be some golf over the festive period with the Vice Captain's bash on Boxing Day (Clive says that he has purchased some awesome prizes even if he says so himself) and the Captain's Cross Country on New years Day (Hangover permitting). Merry Christmas one and all (said some dude in a book a while ago)

Greetings all...me again! (really gotta get a life!)
Quick update from Barry365 regarding 'Chase the Ace of Spades'
The Jackpot is edging ever closer to the €1000 mark... You are advised that the last draw for 2017 will take place on Wednesday 13 Dec before Paul departs for the warmth of the UK over the festive season. Members can still (and should) put their tickets in the box ready for the next draw (providing its not been won obvs) on Wednesday 10 Jan 18.
It has been noted by the independent check committee that a few people are not adhering to the rules and the spirit of the game, to whit:
- Only a maximum of 5 tickets per person per draw may be purchased
- The cost of a ticket is €2, not €1, 50C or a completely empty envelope! C'mon folks its not Rocket Surgery!!!!! All entries are checked after each draw, failure to comply with the rules will result in a disqualification and could result in a very disappointed individual if he/she had happened to pick the right card!!
Thanks & regards
The Red Nosed Manager
Seasons greetings to all,
The Summer league Chairman and all round good chap Mr Moray J Campbell esq. is organising an impromptu Christmas Roll up this Saturday 9th Dec (he blames Sharon)

Good morning all,
Notice 1 - Message from the Captain:
Astro Turf Project - Assistance required Monday 04 Dec @ 10:00hrs
We have the last batch of old Astro turf to shake the sand out, measure and roll up. Its a lot easier with 6 people rather than 2! We now require the muscle power and assistance of 6 members. The work is physically demanding, if you have any sort of injury then this is not for you... If you can spare 3 hours your help will be appreciated. We will finish by 13:00hrs.
Notice 2 - The weather has been kind enabling the new greens to be glued yesterday... The Captain will update information on the FB page and website. We're getting there!
Notice 3 - Please be advised that the 4th tee will be closed from 09:00 - 10:30hrs on Wednesday 06 Dec for the RAF(C) Golf Society Turkey Trot (mind you seeing the weather forecast suspect not too many will be venturing out anyway!)
Notice 4 - The Christmas function scheduled for 08 Dec has been cancelled, an alternate event will be held in January (If the Ents Member can get his shit together!)
Notice 5 - The Ladies travelled to Dhekelia to compete in the first leg of the Rebecca Plate. Although they were defeated 4 1/2 - 1/2 it was a close fought contest with both Hazel/Sheila & Angie/Iona losing on the 18th! I'm sure we can kick some butt on the return leg...
Swing Easy peeps!

November 13, 2017
Notice 1 - Today (13 Nov 17) sees work begin on cutting up and replacing the greens. Chappers, Jamie, Bob, Bill & Nigel are all on site today to co-ordinate and assist. This means that the new 9 hole configuration is in use. Start hole is number 4, there is a map showing the route and reminding of holes in play. Please do not cross 2 & 17 fairways, follow the paths...
Rich has produced 9 & 18 hole cards available in the Starters Hut. Also please note that members playing 18 holes have priority over those just starting off. This will be particularly relevant on Tues & Weds for the Ladies, Old & Bold and the WAGA, if possible 'Herring bone' in and be nice to each other, its only for a couple of weeks!
Notice 2 - Congratulations and well done to Sandra & Brian Wilkes for organising the Poppy Appeal Open. A splendid 820 Euros raised! Thanks to all Club members for their participation and to those who helped out on the day.

Notice 2 - Chase the Ace of Spades was drawn after WAGA and the Club Captain's envelope was chosen by Chappers - Unlucky Jamie, the 3 of Clubs is close but not close enough! Get your number chosen and money paid in, the next draw will take place this Saturday after the Poppy Appeal, the jackpot is well in excess of 500 Euros! Nice little bonus just before Christmas...
Notice 3 - Be advised that the Bar staff cannot keep changing notes so that you can get change for Chase the Ace... Please ensure you bring enough coinage with you (only 2 Euros a pop)

Congratulations to the winners Cacs Hinds & Chrissie Hammond and Graham Ibbotson & the ever young Pat Craft. A big thank you to all the members who volunteered to help out over the weekend making it a successful and very enjoyable event. Photo's from the weekend have also been added to the website by our roving reporter and all round good guy Clive Clayton...

Notice 1 - Last call for entrants for this years Autumn Foursomes, Rich will be doing the draw at lunchtime tomorrow (Thursday 26 Oct). Numbers are down, I know that there are a few groups away in Turkey so try to muster a few more pairs if possible!
Notice 2 - We still require volunteers to help out at the above event. Think we've got Halfway House covered but still need a Starter for both days... First tee won't be until around 08:00hrs so you should be all done and dusted by 10:00hrs! Names to Rich Harris please...
Notice 3 - As you are aware the Captain's Drive In originally planned for 05 Nov has been cancelled until after the new greens have been installed. The closure to the course means that we have had to reschedule; meaning that the Ladies EMWT Open will now be held on 05 Nov 17, short notice but available dates were few and far between... Get the word out there and encourage as many ladies as possible to attend, this is a sponsored event and we wouldn't want to lose out in the future!
Notice 4 - It's raining... Today I shall be mostly writing up the Minutes from the last committee meeting (Deep joy)

October 22, 2017
Chappers the Course Member is in desperate need of some assistance with Mark being sidelined. He is in the process of clearing the Reservoir and has asked for some helping hands tomorrow (Monday 23 Oct) at around 09:00hrs. He does have some Wellies and gloves available but it would be easier if you could bring your own...
So, if you have an hour or so to spare and are able assist please make an appearance and help out YOUR Club!
October 20, 2017
Notice 1 - Those members taking part in the Monthly Medal tomorrow (21 Oct 17) should be aware that there will be a Security Guard in place from 07:30 - 16:30hrs for the Cyprus Walk down event. Personnel will require their HV passes to get in!

Swing Easy baby!
October 6, 2017
Message from Paul (Barry365)...
Within a few days I was surprised that there was €62.00 amassed in the Chase the Ace box.It was only Saturday past that it was drawn out on SSAFA day.
Just goes to show, the pots getting bigger and people now want that Jackpot! How long can it last??
Nigel Key was the 10th person drawn from the bag, but unfortunately for him, it was the 9 of Spades!
Good luck next Wednesday. It'll be Waga Finals day and the estimated Jackpot is €320.00.
So, make sure you've your lottery done. IT COULD BE YOU!
October 6, 2017

Thanks & regards
September 26, 2017
Notice 1 - Good News from the office... I'm back! (loud applause and joyous shouts across the Island)
Notice 2 - A reminder that membership fees for the new season are now due, to date we have received 89 payments... Given that three reminder emails were sent out in June before the Club paid 20 Euros per head joining fee to the EGF it is hoped that more membership forms will be forthcoming this week!!! Failing that the decent thing to do would be to at least reimburse the Club for their financial outlay!!! Please put forms, money/cheque in the starters hut safe and I will action this week.
Notice 3 - A stamped and signed copy of your membership application has been placed in the mail slot. With luck and a fair wind this plus 2 utility bills should suffice to get you a replacement Happy Valley Pass. If your details have changed since last year you will be required to complete the full security proforma again... (unless they change their mind again!)
Notice 4 - The Greens Project Manager (Chappers) has come up with a cunning plan for the replacement programme, once the Exec Committee has had a chance to peruse and agree the proposal I will notify the membership.
Notice 5 - The Captain extends his thanks to those members who gave up their time to promote the Club at the Epi Fete. Your efforts were much appreciated and have not gone unnoticed.
Swing Easy its cooling down!
September 14, 2017
Notice 1 - Following the end of the Summer League (Congratulations to Chrissie Hammond) the draw for the weekly 'Chase the Ace' will now take place on Wednesday after WAGA, so get your envelopes in quick! Notice 3 - All those who are still to pay membership fees for the upcoming season are requested to place forms and cash/cheques in the safe located in the Starters Hut.
Notice 4 - No News from the office! I am away from 17-24 Sep 17 wandering around green, green grass courses in Turkey and drinking my own body weight from the 5* cocktail list... I'm looking forward to a well earned rest and will annoy you once more with my regular updates on my return.
September 13, 2017
Please see below update from the Club Captain Jamie Evans:

The aspiration is to have the new green installed on Hole 1, before the Autumn Foresomes Competition on 28 Oct 17.
It is estimated that work on the course will take place between 16 - 27 Oct (exact dates are subject to confirmation by the Contractor and Course Manager)
September 1, 2017

Notice 4 - A big thank you goes out to Chris Gamon who has volunteered to take up the vacant committee post of House Member (Clive said he'd buy you beers all season...well he actually said he buy you a small Keo if cornered, but I know what he really meant!)
Notice 5 - The finale of the Summer League takes place on 09 Sep 17. There will be food and live entertainment all for the princely sum of 10 Euros! You don't have to be a Summer Leaguer to participate, all welcome. Contact Moray Campbell for more details and to book your place.
Notice 6 - We held the first Exec Committee meeting yesterday, a Record of Decisions will be published in due course.
August 24, 2017
Notice 1 - There will be a Half Marathon Triathlon K1 event held at Happy Valley on 07 Oct 17. There will be increased car, bike and personnel activity all day so those members intending to play on this day please be aware and ensure due vigilance when driving and make sure all buildings are secured if not in use.
Notice 2 - We still require a volunteer to fill the vacant committee post of House Member. Personnel with access to Epi camp would be an advantage. Clive Synnuck is currently completing this task and that of Vice Captain... Please stand up and be counted!
Notice 3 - Most of you will be aware that Mark Eaton will be unavailable to carry out grounds man duties for the foreseeable future having to make the daily medical trip to Nicosia. With Chappers back in the UK we will require volunteers to assist George with grounds maintenance. Lets hope we get more than the 4 who helped out last time! A gentle reminder to the Associate members that part of the acceptance as members of JSGC(E) is that you 'Give something back to the Club'.
Notice 4 - You should all be aware by now of the new membership fees and categories for the new season. Payment by cheque is preferred but I will take cash if needed. Feedback is welcomed on the fees and categories introduced by the committee (thus far we have received 6 positive and 1 negative response).
