This Week's Results
18 October 17
24 members started the first WAGA meeting of the Winter Season.
RESULTS. Scoring was high on the day which reflected in Gary Brownlee’s relative high of 15 points being awarded the ‘Pink’. This is the first time in many years of attending WAGA that Gary will be wearing ‘Pink’. Jim Burke shot a blistering 30 points to win with Jim Collins taking 2nd with 26 points. However, both Jims will not be attending next week (fined ‘shirt avoidance’) the ‘Yellow’ was therefore awarded to Willie El Fakir for the second week running who came 3rd with 23 points. Willie’s 5 H/C pushed Garry Mac (H/C 7) into 4th and beat Bill Ferguson (H/C 9), Ian Boote (14 H/C) both with 23 points. Irrespective of numbers, prizes for the first 4 places up to €44 will be awarded each week this season.
- 2 SKINS. The return of Garry Mac saw him take €12 with the only 2 of the day on the 1st. Reminder only 1 player can take the pot. No player or 2 plus players will see the pot roll over. If not won in 5 weeks the pot will go into WAGA funds. Please continue the marking of 2's clearly on cards and mentioning to Chairman when handing in card. Week 1 again next week.
- LEAGUE TABLE. The first Winter League table is enclosed (2 versions). The League will run for 32 weeks with 20 scores being the qualifier for a ‘Top 9’ slot on finals day.
o Please continue to encourage new members to attend WAGA.
o Embrace the WAGA ethos and mix with other players as much as possible during the season. Please refrain from teeing off at too an early a time pre the official 1300H allocated time Note less Finals Day when tee offs can commence from 1230H.. Please keep to 3 balls, No 4 balls please unless playing a club KO or joined by a late starter.
o Our better players are request to play with less talented players for encouragement and hopefully develop better skills and understanding of rules.
o Crapputter Cup. It is anticipated the Crapputter Cup will take place mid Apr 18 we await confirmation from Club. Judd Larsen has volunteered to Captain the Jocks with Clive Synnuck volunteering for the English. Presentation of Flags to Captains will be held soon.
The Captains and Joint Chair have agreed that the selection will be:-
Two weeks prior to competition Top 6 of each country plus best 3 averages for players having played 5 or more WAGAs plus 3 Captains pick.
o Paul Barry runs the ‘Chase the Ace’ on behalf of the club. Full details are on the club notice board but the lucky card will now be drawn on WAGA days please support. Note not won again today, 2 of spades drawn!
Thanks again for all your support and hopefully see you next week. The Winter Season will run up to the 23 May 18. The 3 Major WAGA trophies, NGE Shield, Bruce Kingston Shield and League Cup will be up for grabs.
Clive & Steve.
PS Apologies to Garry Mac & Bill Ferguson for the incorrect results announced to day.
